For me just picking out a hotel on the net and exchanging a few emails with the owner, we made out like bandits. We loved our hotel, Gumbo Limbo. It also seemed a little fitting with that name. Our hotel overlooked the town and water below, and it was a hill(!) to get up to it. It was worth it though. At times it felt like we were in some sort of luxury camping experience with the no A/C and a few critters running through the spaces. I don't think I would have enjoyed it any other way. I realized how much I missed it while I was waiting for these pics to upload.

Betty could cook us some good breakfast and she did such a great job on the cake.

One of the biggest surprises in Costa Rica was the quality of the food. I rarely tasted anything that I wasn't just thrilled with. Yep, even the squids stuffed with beast. Everyone looked at that one a little funny. My favorite restaurant was Playa de los Artistas. That was the place we were taken before our big day. So many good food stories and flavors to savor for a good while.
